Media: refine the edit item experience

Reported by: boutell Owned by: dordille
Priority: minor Milestone: 1.5
Component: apostrophePlugin Version: trunk
Keywords: 1.5rc Cc: dordille, johnnyoffline, rickybanister, geoffd
Symfony version: 1.4

Description

Media items should be editable "in place" in the media browser view.

Make sure this doesn't screw up media selection somehow.

We should do a thorough review of this, working through the consequences. Edit in place caused a great deal of frustration and confusion in the blog plugin.

I agree. I believe that we can accomplish this by adding the "save" button next to each form that you edit.

I would do it how we do the title on the blog with one slight modification. I would have the save button show up when you click to edit. (Not require you to make a change before the button shows up.)

Another good design pattern for this is the flickr editing of title. See screenshot.

So they DO have save buttons. Good to know, thanks Geoff.

We've decided for the time being we will default to a one-up view with a left/right orientation for meta data and the edit form.

John, this was assigned to Dan, it's the parent ticket for the individual media view and media edit form tickets. Pull Dan or Tom in as needed.
